For example: HBCA E1/1 fo1 HBCA E1/1 fo1d The folio reference (fo1 and fo1d) should be taken from the top right hand corner of the document (1d refers to the dorsal or reverse of a page or folio). The journals were used by Sir James Hayes, Deputy Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, to prepare diplomatic representations regarding French actions at Port Nelson in 1684. In 1685, the Hudson's Bay Company's Sub-Committee ordered Hayes to return the journals to the Hudson's Bay Company; he finally complied in 1687.
