Description Part of a series which contains copy letterbooks of outward correspondence, written at Churchill and addressed to officers at various Hudson's Bay Company posts. Some letters are addressed to the Governor and Committee in London. Some inward correspondence is also copied in these volumes. Letters in post journals generally document the weather, daily activities, the trading of goods between posts, occurrences of note, arrivals and departures of visitors and expeditions. Some journals contain correspondence, accounts or logs of various vessels. Post journals were sent annually to the Governor and Committee in London, and copies were often preserved at the posts. Letters contain details on sharing provisions (such as meat, blankets and cloth), whaling, sailors, lending a bricklayer, geese and venison hunting season and the weather.
